Jamila Hla Shwe

Jamila Hla Shwe is a pianist, and opera/vocal and instrumental coach originally from Prague, where she graduated from the Prague Conservatory of Music and worked in the State and National Operas as a rehearsal pianist and coach. Jamila has performed throughout Europe, in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the US.

After moving to Fairbanks, she worked as an adjunct at UAF and as a pianist/coach and chorus master for Anchorage Opera, Opera Fairbanks, Pacific Northwest Opera and Teatro Lirico d’Europa. Jamila also works for the Fairbanks Suzuki Institute and has worked on musicals as well.

By joining the FLOT board, Jamila is excited to continue to work and contribute as a pianist, coach and organizer with the talented members of our community and help continuing to bring wonderful performances for all to enjoy.
