Tekla Monson

Tekla Butcher Monson is a set designer/director, who lives in Fairbanks and manages Trail Breaker Kennel, her family’s sled dog tourism business. Tekla studied set and costume design at Wesleyan University, then spent three winters in New York City working in theater design. Relevant experience includes: direction and set design for Rumors (2016), direction and set design for Bat Boy the Musical (2018), set design for an immersive, club musical OSCAR at the Crown, Brooklyn, NY (2018), set design for Little Women, Perseverance Theater, Anchorage/Juneau (2022). As a director, Tekla inspires joy and passion in her cast and creative team by building community and wholeheartedly indulging in the collaborative process.
